Simon is an outstanding consultant in terms of his ability to reassure patients and make them feel at ease. He is very patient and listens to every small detail of worry you may have. He always makes you feel like you can ask him anything. You always know you have his attention and he never makes you feel rushed or a nuisance. From a patient perspective his skills as a surgeon are excellent. He made a very harrowing experience very much more bearable. Knowing how panicked patients can be at check-ups he makes sure he tells you straight away things are ok which helps you relax and be able to concentrate on what is being discussed during the appointment. In all honesty I do not believe there are any ways in which Simon needs to improve I wish all doctors/consultants were like him.

I have watched Simon Smith treat my wife for breast cancer for six years. From the day he caringly announced that she was suffering from cancer through surgery and after care he has been an excellent lead member of the cancer care team. He is generally a good time keeper whilst always willing to spend extra time with my wife if she needs. He has an excellent rapport and easy manner with his patients whilst maintaining a professional approach which are very reassuring.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in Feb 2013 and Mr Smith and his team have been in charge of my care and treatment which is still on-going. I've had two operations and will need further surgery to finish the breast reconstruction process. I have always found Mr Smith to be informative, caring and professional with an excellent bedside manner. He is a skilful surgeon and always explains procedures and options clearly, without using unnecessary medical jargon, taking time to answer any questions. I feel I can trust his judgement implicitly which is crucial at a time when you are feeling very vulnerable after receiving a cancer diagnosis. Throughout my treatment I have received excellent care from all staff in the Breast Care Unit at Broomfield Hospital and would like to thank Mr Smith and his team for helping me through a very difficult time in such a professional way.

Mr Smith has given me exceptional care over the last year while I have been treated for breast cancer. In my opinion he goes above and beyound. He has an excellent bedside manner and I trust him 100%. He has answered any concerns I may have had over this period and has provided me with comprehensive information regarding my treatment. I am really pleased with my reconstruction, it looks so natural with minimal scarring, he is a very clever man. I would highly recommend Mr Smith, it has been a pleasure being looked after by him and made what is a very difficult time just that bit more bearable. I have no suggestions on how Mr Smith could give greater care as he has exceeded all my expectations, as has Springfield Hospital where I recieved my treatment under Mr Smith.
